Introducing UPI Payment Option on Pi42 (Web) 

Welcome to the Pi42 UPI payment feature help article! This detailed guide will walk you through everything you need to know about using UPI payments on our platform.

Phase 1: Initial Introduction

We are excited to introduce the UPI payment option to a select group of users (around 100) as part of our initial rollout. This feature allows users to make deposits quickly and securely using UPI.

Workflow Overview

  1. Fetching UPI IDs:

    • We use an API from Hyperverge to fetch all UPI IDs linked to the users' registered mobile numbers.

  2. Verification:

    • We verify whether these UPI IDs are active and match the UPI holder name with the user's bank account name registered with us.

    • Users must complete KYC and Bank verification during onboarding to start making deposits.

  3. Storing UPI IDs:

    • After verification, we store these UPI IDs for each user account. They are non whitelisted until the user verifies them.

User Experience

For users with the UPI payment feature enabled, here's how to use it:

  1. Accessing UPI Deposits:

    • Eligible users will see the UPI payment option live./

Note: UPI Deposits are completely FREE and it takes upto 15 minutes 

  1. Set up UPI ID Validation:

    • Click on "Select," and a new screen will open, showing upto 5 UPI IDs fetched for your account in a masked format (e.g., "user****@okhdfcbank").

    • Choose any UPI ID and verify it by entering it correctly and submitting it. This acts as a form of two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security. It ensures us that the user has verified their UPI ID as well. 

    • You will receive a mobile OTP for verification. Enter the OTP to complete the validation process.

    • Once validated, you will see a confirmation message, and the UPI ID will be whitelisted for deposits.



  1. Making a Deposit:

    • After whitelisting your UPI ID, click on "Deposit Now" to proceed to the Amount screen.

    • Enter the amount you wish to deposit (minimum Rs 500).

Note: Deposits from non-whitelisted UPI IDs will not be credited and will be refunded within 5 to 7 days.

  • Click "proceed" to initiate the UPI payment.

  • There will be a modal that opens up with the qr code scanner filled with payment information. 

  • Scan the QR Code and complete the payment on your UPI app, then return to the Pi42 app screen, where you will see a "Payment Verification in Process" modal.

  • This modal informs you that the payment is being processed and may take a few moments.


Backend Process

In the backend, we ensure the security and accuracy of your deposits:

  1. Bank Statement Download:

    • We download the bank statement every 15 minutes and upload the data to our database.

  2. Transaction Matching:

    • We match deposit transactions with the whitelisted UPI IDs stored in the user database.

    • If a match is found, we create a successful deposit order and credit the user's account.

  3. Successful Deposit Mailer

    • Once the payment is successfully matched, users will receive a “Successful UPI deposit” mail for confirmation as well.

Q: How long does it take for my UPI deposit to be credited? 
A: Typically, UPI deposits are credited within 15 minutes if the user has made payment from their whitelisted UPI ID. In rare cases, it might take some more time. 

Q: What if I use a different UPI ID for payment? 
A: Deposits from non-verified UPI IDs will not be credited and will be refunded within 5-7 days.

Q: Can I have multiple UPI IDs linked to my account? 
A: Yes, you can have upto 5 whitelisted UPI IDs linked to your account approved for payment. 

Q: What should I do if my deposit doesn't show up? 
A: If your deposit doesn't appear after 15 minutes, use the "Can't find your transaction?" option to raise a support ticket. Ensure to save the UTR number of the UPI Transaction attached in your ticket for quicker resolution.

Q: Is there a minimum deposit amount for UPI payments?
A: Yes, the minimum deposit amount using UPI is Rs 500.

Q: How do I know if I'm eligible for UPI deposits? 
A: Eligible users will see the UPI option as "Live" in their deposit methods. If you see "Coming Soon," you're not yet eligible.

Q: Who can use the UPI payment feature? 
A: Currently, UPI payments are available to a select group of about 100 users in the initial phase. We will gradually roll out this feature to more users.
